The UK construction sector is a huge and ever-growing industry, estimated at £117 billion in 2018. Unfortunately, it’s also one of the most gender divided.

Trade union, GMB, estimate only 12.5% of the workforce are women – around one in eight.

And so, for the first week of March construction companies around the world are taking to Twitter to celebrate the contributions of their female workers.

Make sure to return to the Design & Build UK news site every day this week for rolling coverage of #WomenInConstructionWeek. On top of this, in 2020 we are running a Women in Construction profile every month in Design and Build UK. If you know someone you think deserves a mention, nominate them in the comments below for Woman of the Month representing Women in Construction. It could be your boss, your friend or your local plumber – whoever it is, let us know. The winner and finalists will be announced in next month’s issue of Design and Build UK
