After 25 years at Stanhope, Henry Williams has confirmed that he will be retiring from the business at the end of April.

During his time as a Director at Stanhope, Henry Williams has focused on the company’s speculative office development, with particular emphasis on the Office Product and Leasing.

Henry Williams said: “It’s been a huge privilege and honour to have had the experience of working with some of the leading Design Professionals in their field, not forgetting the lawyers and agents!”

“When I look back, we have delivered some really special office developments which have secured international recognition. In office development it doesn’t get much better than that. It’s been wonderful to have had the opportunity to share knowledge and challenge the norm with so many brilliant people - we all had the same objective of delivering Best in Class which we did in abundance. I’d also like to think we enjoyed a great deal of fun on the journey - I know I did!

“Over the years I’ve had some great mentors and I would also like to thank them for their generous help and guidance and I hope that I, in turn, have been able to pass a lot of that knowledge on to my colleagues who will be taking the business forward. I should also mention our development partners who gave their support on some of those challenging financial decisions!”

David Camp, CEO of Stanhope, said:  “Henry will be a hard act to follow.  He has been critical to the success of Stanhope for a quarter of a century.   Henry has been a leader and mentor of the business and a loyal, supportive and congenial colleague to me and many others over the years.

“His professional career goes back more than 40 years and he is a towering figure amongst the development, leasing and design community with many friends and widespread and profound respect.  Henry is truly irreplaceable but he has built a strong team of colleagues alongside him who I am sure will carry the business onwards to even greater success and with the same humour and attention to detail.

“Everyone at Stanhope wishes Henry a happy, healthy and well-earned retirement - we will miss him.”

Henry Williams continued: “I was lucky to be selected to join the team working on creating a new city, Milton Keynes – a city to match the size of Cardiff or Leicester from virtually nothing Unbelievable experience and to be given the role of managing the Business Space team in my mid 20’s, delivering employment opportunities to support the growth of the new city, was a huge responsibility that I am forever grateful for.”

“I think it’s where the seeds were sown for my interest in design, challenging convention, leading change and creative thinking to problem solve.” “My time at MK was followed by Development Director roles at The Carroll Group and Trafalgar House before joining Stanhope to help create the multi award winning Chiswick Park back in 1999 which itself broke a number of perceived glass ceilings!”
