Cambridgeshire developer Barratt and David Wilson Homes has praised one of its employees that has taken a leap for charity.
Thomas Govey, a Trainee Quantity Surveyor for Barratt and David Wilson Homes Cambridgeshire and his partner, Katie, have completed a skydive to support Alzheimer's Society.
Alzheimer's Society is a UK based charity that funds research and cares for those suffering from dementia, as well as supporting family and carers.
Thomas said: “It was truly an incredible and unique experience, with professional instructors who made us feel incredibly safe. I was scared once the door opened and it was time to jump. I was second to go so I had to see someone else jump first which scared me even more. Once out the plane the adrenaline kicked in, so I ended up enjoying it.”
Thomas and Katie completed their skydives for Thomas’ nan, who is currently battling Alzheimer’s.
He continued: “Alzheimer’s has affected our family in many ways as we have slowly watched what damage this disease can do to a person. This charity is very dear to both of us, so we were overjoyed to raise what we did for them.”
Thomas and Katie’s bravery raised £1,060 for Alzheimer’s Society.
Will Phair, Sales Director at David Wilson Homes Cambridgeshire, said: “We’re very proud of the efforts of Thomas and Katie made in their fundraising for Alzheimer’s Society
“Skydiving is truly pushing yourself outside of the comfort zone, and we hope they both gained a real sense of achievement.
“Alzheimer’s Society does amazing work to help those affected by dementia, so we’re delighted to support its efforts.”
