Women in Construction Week 2025 officially kicks off today, running from March 2-8, as the industry unites to celebrate the contributions, achievements, and growing presence of women in construction. Established in 1998 by the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), WIC Week has grown into a global movement, highlighting the role of women in shaping the built environment and reinforcing the industry's commitment to diversity and inclusion.
This year’s theme, “Together We Rise,” embodies the collective strength, ambition, and resilience of women across all levels of the sector. Throughout the week, companies, organizations, and industry leaders will host educational events, networking opportunities, mentorship programs, and job site visits to support and inspire women in construction. From apprentices and tradespeople to project managers and executives, WIC Week serves as a powerful reminder of the invaluable impact women have on the industry.
While WIC Week is about celebrating progress, it also highlights the work still needed to break down barriers, increase opportunities, and ensure gender equality in construction. Women remain underrepresented in many areas of the sector, and initiatives like WIC Week aim to encourage more women to pursue careers in engineering, architecture, surveying, site management, and skilled trades, ensuring that talent is never limited by gender.
As part of this celebration, Design & Build UK is proud to present the Women in Construction Awards 2025, recognising the individuals and organizations making a difference in the sector. Following the success of last year’s awards, the 2025 event will once again shine a spotlight on trailblazers, rising stars, industry role models, and influential allies who are driving change and setting new standards.
The Women in Construction Awards 2025 will feature categories such as Rising Star, Role Model, On the Tools, Lifetime Achievement, Community Hero, Male Ally, and Inclusive Company, ensuring that those making an impact across all aspects of the industry receive the recognition they deserve. These awards not only celebrate success but also inspire future generations to pursue careers in construction and challenge outdated perceptions of the industry.
As WIC Week 2025 unfolds, businesses and individuals are encouraged to take part by attending events, sharing success stories, supporting mentorship initiatives, and championing inclusivity. Most importantly, nominations for the Design & Build UK Women in Construction Awards 2025 are now open. This is the perfect opportunity to honour the women and allies making a real impact in the sector.
