Berkshire housebuilder David Wilson Homes welcomed the Mayor of Newbury to view the progress of its Speen development ahead of the imminent launch.
Ahead of releasing the first homes at its Lapwing Green community on Bath Road, the housebuilder invited Councillor Andy Moore OBE to view the properties under construction at the 118-home development.
The Mayor was given an insight into the new community on a tour of the site, alongside Campbell Gregg, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes, and Matt Barker, Site Manager.
The Mayor said: “The site will be a beneficial addition to housing choice across Newbury. I was impressed with the attitude of care with which the company is approaching the construction, notably to neighbours, the environment and the workforce.”
Lapwing Green will be delivered across three phases and feature a mix of two to five bedroom properties, 47 of which will be affordable homes.
The initial foundations were laid at the development in December 2024, and the first phase of properties is set to be released in early spring for anyone looking to reserve their brand-new home in a sought-after location.
Campbell Gregg, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes Southern, said: “It was a pleasure to welcome the Mayor to our Lapwing Green development for a first look at this brand-new community.
“We are excited to unveil the first phase of homes at this new community in Speen, and we look forward to helping a wide range of house hunters progress on the property ladder with a sustainable and energy efficient new home.”
Properties under First Homes will be available at the development which, as a Government-backed scheme, is designed to help more first-time buyers onto the property ladder in England. Under the scheme, homes are available for sale with a discount of up to 30% of the market value, on selected brand-new properties up to a maximum price of £250,000.
For more information about the Lapwing Green, call the sales team on 033 3355 8487 or visit the website at David Wilson Homes in Berkshire.
