A Sales Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Midlands is proudly celebrating the first anniversary of being appointed in his role.
Martyn Parker, who is originally from Leicester, has spent the past year at the helm of the sales department at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Midlands, overseeing a team of approximately 40 sales professionals.
His responsibilities include managing sales targets and forecasts across housing developments spanning Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire.
Martyn's journey at Barratt and David Wilson Homes began in August 2013 when he joined the leading housebuilder as a Senior Sales Adviser.
Reflecting on the past year, he said: “It's been quite a whirlwind with the ever-shifting market dynamics, changes in governmental policies, and the challenging impact of the cost-of-living crisis.
“However, despite these hurdles, we have managed to maintain our coveted HBF five-star status and have successfully achieved our year-end forecasts.”
Over the years, Martyn’s dedication and exceptional skills led to a series of well-deserved promotions, and prior to his time in the construction industry, he also worked an exciting multitude of roles including Store Manager at a national supermarket chain and Bar Supervisor at a popular nightclub in Leicester.
His ascent through the ranks in the housebuilding industry culminated in his appointment as Sales Director in July 2022. Along this journey, Martyn's commitment to the company's values and his relentless drive for success have been evident.
Barratt and David Wilson Homes aims to support and foster the careers of individuals who show a drive to want to better themselves within the industry.
Martyn said: “Barratt and David Wilson Homes is a fantastic place to work. The company offers good opportunities and career development, as well as great benefits and recognition.
“It’s a diverse company where all genders and ethnicities are treated fairly with dignity and respect. We have a great board of directors and I am truly proud to say I work here.
“Barratt and David Wilson Homes has also been extremely supportive with my dyslexia. From a very young age, I was frequently told by various people that I would never be able to achieve my goal so I would say: work hard, stay true to yourself, believe in yourself and never let anyone tell you that you can’t achieve what you want to achieve!”
Offering advice to those aspiring for similar roles, Martyn said: “I believe it’s key to be part of the team, rather than simply being in charge of the team. You need an ability to drive people, be open and honest, reliable, and supportive.
“We work as a team and help each other with ideas, and always find a solution to any problem by putting our heads together with all hands on deck.”
