Land & Water Group’s Terraqua Environmental Solutions (TES) division, responsible for the bioengineering and aquatic planting of its projects, has recently welcomed a new team member after a successful summer.
Roger Baines has joined the team as Contracts Manager, taking over the project arm of the business. He will eventually handle all plant and material enquiries by the end of the year.
Roger, who joined Land & Water Group in 2018 as Project Manager and was recruited internally, has experience within construction, operations and environment solutions. His 30-year career spans international as well as UK based projects, ranging from overseeing works at a Basalt quarry in the Republic of Armenia to working at the Canal and River Trust, overseeing construction works on waterways in the south of the UK. Undoubtedly his wide-ranging skillset will further enhance TES’ capabilities.
Lynn Puttock, General Manager at TES, said: “We are happy to welcome Roger to the team as he will be a great asset to the business as we look to increase our contracts over the coming months.
“We first met Roger a few years ago, during his role at the Canal and River Trust, when he purchased coir rolls and aquatic plants for its projects, so he is no stranger to the way we work and will be a valued TES member.”
Commenting on his new role, Roger stated: “I am thrilled to be joining TES in this new role.
“Although I am not new to the Land & Water Group, I am looking forward to jumping straight in as Contracts Manager and creating positive change which can benefit the division.”
The new team addition comes after a successful summer for TES as it recently completed a range of projects including the restoring of Southmere Lake at Thamesmead through the installation of floating islands, reed beds and wetlands, increasing the biodiversity of the area.
