ECA stand will showcase electrotechnical and engineering services industry to school leavers

The electrotechnical engineers of tomorrow are being urged to attend this year’s Skills Cymru event at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff, 10-11 October, during which numerous careers opportunities in the sector will be showcased by ECA and industry partners.

ECA’s ‘Get Skilled’ stand will give young people invaluable insight into what it’s like to work in the modern electrotechnical and engineering services sector. Apprentices from the industry will also attend to share and discuss their experiences.

The stand will be highly interactive – providing visitors with the chance to try new skills through ‘hands-on’ activities, such as correctly wiring the latest switches and other fittings, and using thermal imaging.  There will also be demonstrations on how to install smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and an interactive home automation system that uses the latest smart technologies.

Attendees will also be able to talk with a range of people working in the industry, who can share their experience of the range of available opportunities, and the financial rewards.

Industry partners include JTL and JIB, who will also be providing interactive demonstrations at the event.

ECA South Wales Regional Manager Michelle Davies commented:

“ECA is delighted to be involved in this leading careers event, which provides an important step for young people in Wales who may be interested in a rewarding career within the electrotechnical and engineering services sector.

“We are grateful to our industry partners, who will be delivering stimulating interactive demonstrations, allowing attendees to gain hands-on experience of the real tasks undertaken by professionals working within the industry.”

Skills Cymru is a major careers and skills event for Wales, attracting up to 10,000 people annually. This years’ event will take place on 10-11 October at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff and 17-18 October at Venue Cymru in Llandudno.
