Leading asbestos management consultancy, Acorn Analytical Services, has announced the appointment of two new directors - the first female directors in the company’s history.
Sian Stone and Viviana Pista have been promoted to Associate Directors in recognition of their contribution to the company’s growth, alongside their leadership and commitment.
Sian has worked at Acorn Analytical Services for 13 years, initially supporting with business development in the early days of the business, and then as an administrator two days a week. She then progressed to Business Manager before taking over the sales side of the business during COVID. Two more promotions followed to Commercial Manager in 2022 and Head of Commercial in 2024.
In her new role, Sian will focus on commercial strategy and profitability, while overseeing a new Commercial Manager to support and develop the sales team.
Sian said: “Professionally, this promotion makes me feel appreciated for the work I’ve put in over the years. Personally, I feel immensely proud. My family see how hard I work, and that means everything to me. My son actually did a school presentation about how proud he was of me and what I do, so this makes the moment even more special. I want to show him that hard work really does pay off.
“I’m also looking forward to working with the other directors to drive further sales, growth and profitability.”
Viviana Pista joined Acorn Analytical Services three and a half years ago as Business Manager and has since played a key role across operations, including HR and fleet management. She was also instrumental in implementing several new green initiatives to reduce the carbon output of the business, such as installing electric vehicle chargers and solar panels, and planning more carbon-efficient travel routes for the team.
These efforts contributed to the company winning Gold in the Sustainability category at the 2025 Northamptonshire SME Awards. Viviana has also supported the leadership team with making improvements to recruitment and training processes, and employee benefit packages and support, earning further recognition for the company at both regional and national awards.
In her new role, Viviana will continue to support the business in the short term as Business Manager while taking on additional responsibilities focused on team development, performance and wellbeing.
Speaking about her appointment, Viviana said: “This promotion represents a significant milestone, both professionally and personally. It also represents a new challenge, and I genuinely welcome that. During my MBA, I learnt that real growth only happens when you step outside your comfort zone, and that has shaped my approach ever since. Ultimately, I care about what I do, and this promotion reaffirms that I am on the right path.
“A big part of my new role will be working closely with our team to make sure they feel supported, valued and able to grow, while ensuring the business continues to perform at a high level.”
Sam Savage, Managing Director at Acorn Analytical Services, said: “Viviana and Sian have both made exceptional contributions to Acorn Analytical Services over the years and their promotions are incredibly well deserved following their hard work and commitment.
“Having Sian and Viviana on the board of directors will strengthen our leadership team further and help us to continue to drive the business forward.”
