Community library gets kitchen makeover thanks to Mi-space

Volunteers and visitors at the Briton Ferry Community Library are celebrating getting a new look kitchen after staff from Mi-space donated their time and expertise to give the facility a complete makeover.

The team from Mi-space, part of the Midas Group, along with local contractors took on the challenge in support of the local community and spent two weeks remodelling the kitchen, re-tiling and redecorating the space.

Mi-space has been working extensively in the area carrying out a long term programme of home improvements on behalf of Neath Port Talbot Council. The Arbed energy saving scheme helps to enhance people’s homes across the county borough by making them more energy efficient. Mi-space has completed around 75 properties in the past three years.

As part of this relationship – and Midas Group’s wider commitment to the communities it works in and to delivering industry-leading customer service – Mi-space has dedicated time and efforts to community engagement projects.

Simon Baldwin, Mi-space Operational Manager, said: “We have very much enjoyed working with Neath Port Talbot Council and the community throughout the Arbed programme and it was wonderful to be able to support this much-valued local facility.

“The library is managed by the community with the support of the Council and we hope users enjoy the results of the refurbishment. It should also bring benefits to another one of our clients, social housing providers Tai Tarian, who also are also based in the area.”

Mi-space is continuing its relationship with Neath Port Talbot Council, with a new Arbed scheme due to start in January 2018.

Councillor Annette Wingrave, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Sustainable Development, said: “We are very grateful for the time and effort donated by Mi-space staff and local contractors. The new kitchen looks fabulous and will be a great asset for Briton Ferry Community Library, which is well used by local groups and residents.”
