Isuzu UK is proud to announce that The New Isuzu D-Max EV has been awarded the highly coveted ‘One to Watch’ accolade at the What Van? Awards 2026, recognising the groundbreaking arrival of the UK’s first fully electric, fully capable pick-up.
Set to redefine expectations in the commercial EV sector, The New Isuzu D-Max EV combines the rugged durability and work-ready toughness synonymous with the D-Max name with an electric drivetrain. It delivers full-time four-wheel drive, a 3.5-tonne towing capacity, and a payload exceeding one tonne, making it the first production electric pick-up in Europe to offer genuine, uncompromised commercial performance.
James Dallas, Editor at What Van? and one of the judges for the awards, commented: “The pickup sector is crying out for a competent electric 4x4 workhorse and the Isuzu D-Max EV is pioneering the way and looks like it could fit the bill.”
Developed from the multi-award-winning D-Max platform, the EV variant introduces a powerful dual-motor system supported by a 66.9 kWh lithium-ion battery. This configuration produces a combined output of 140 kW, split between 43 kW at the front and 97 kW at the rear, with total torque of 325 Nm (108 Nm front and 217 Nm rear). As a result, the vehicle achieves a WLTP range of 163 miles, accelerates from 0–62 mph in just 10.1 seconds and reaches a top speed of over 80 mph.
The D-Max EV continues to deliver outstanding all-terrain capability. It features full-time four-wheel drive, multi-level regenerative braking and an Eco Mode that extends driving range when required. Its off-road credentials include water wading capability of up to 600 mm, ground clearance of 210 mm, and impressive approach and departure angles of 30.5 degrees and 24.2 degrees, respectively. These attributes ensure the vehicle is fully prepared for challenging worksites, rural environments and demanding commercial applications.
Following its world-first unveiling at the Commercial Vehicle Show 2025, Isuzu UK has confirmed that The New D-Max EV will launch in early 2026 in two highly equipped trim levels, based on the existing DL40 and V-Cross models.
The first trim level, the D-Max eDL40, will be available in both Extended Cab and Double Cab configurations. It features chrome exterior styling, an 8-inch infotainment system, a 7-inch driver information display, heated front seats, Bi-LED headlights, and leather upholstery. It also includes dual-zone climate control, front and rear parking sensors, Rough Terrain Mode, and a premium six-speaker audio system. Prices for the eDL40 start at £59,995 CVOTR (ex. VAT) for the Extended Cab and £60,995 CVOTR (ex. VAT) for the Double Cab.
The range-topping D-Max eV-Cross adds several premium enhancements. These include distinctive dark grey styling, an upgraded 9-inch infotainment system, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and an enhanced eight-speaker premium audio system. This model is priced at £62,495 CVOTR (ex. VAT).
Neil Scott, National Sales Manager of Isuzu UK, said: “We’re thrilled to secure another major industry win for 2026, especially so soon after the D-Max was recognised as Pick-Up Towcar of the Year by the Caravan and Motorhome Club. The New D-Max EV is a genuine game-changer: the first fully electric pick-up that delivers the full spectrum of commercial capability our customers rely on. To be named ‘One to Watch’ reinforces the market’s confidence in what is set to be a transformative year for Isuzu and for the pick-up segment as a whole.”
The New Isuzu D-Max EV will arrive in the UK in early 2026. For more information, visit: www.isuzu.co.uk/electric-pickup.
