Nottinghamshire developer David Wilson Homes has recently welcomed Member of Parliament for Sherwood, Mark Spencer MP, for a housing development tour with its award-winning team in Edwinstowe.

B&DWNM – AH – 25.11.2022-042 – Cllr Scott Carlton and Mark Spencer MP meeting Martin Rose and Mark Cotes at Thoresby Vale

The leading homebuilder invited the constituency MP to visit its Thoresby Vale development on Ollerton Road and go behind the scenes alongside Managing Director, Mark Cotes, Sales Director, Martyn Parker and Site Manager, Martin Rose.

Also in attendance to see the progress being made at the new community was Scott Carlton, Ward Councillor for Edwinstowe and Clipstone at Newark and Sherwood District Council.

Mark Spencer MP was able to meet Martin, who was recently commended with a Pride in the Job Quality award from the National House Building Council (NHBC) for his work on the development, and the high standards set.

Mark Spencer MP said: “I was delighted to congratulate Martin for his award and to thank him and the team for the work they have done on the development. From going around and looking at the properties, they look very impressive and the plans for the development show a fantastic place to live and I hope everyone moving in enjoys their new home.”

Thoresby Vale has been well-received by homebuyers since it initially launched in March 2021, and the 219-home community has fast become a sought-after setting for house hunters.

Accolades such as the Pride in the Job awards rate site managers against key criteria such as technical expertise, health and safety, consistency, leadership and attention to detail. The awards celebrate the vital role site managers play in ensuring new homes are delivered on-time, on safe sites and to the highest quality standards.

This year, site managers at David Wilson Homes and its parent company Barratt Developments have won 98 Pride in the Job Quality awards and 34 Seal of Excellence awards, more than any other housebuilder.

Whilst being able to see the construction in progress at Thoresby Vale first-hand, Mark Spencer and Cllr Carlton were also given a tour of the furnished show homes at the development.

The range of homes available at the development includes a selection of two, three and four bedroom properties, ideal for a variety of prospective purchasers in Edwinstowe.

Mark Cotes said: “We were delighted to welcome Mark onto the site and discuss the success of our Thoresby Vale development. It was great to provide the opportunity to view the ongoing works and introduce him to Martin, one of our award-winning Site Managers.”

Having been appointed Minister of State at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in September 2022, Mark Spencer MP was able to learn all about David Wilson Homes’ ecological commitments at its growing development.

The development’s landscaping is designed to form a connection between onsite open space and the existing country park. This is achieved through the thoughtful selection of trees and shrubs being planted to mirror the forest’s setting and add longevity to the green infrastructure.

What’s more, included within the housebuilder’s plans for the development are a range of wildlife-friendly features in the show home gardens including bird boxes, bat boxes, swift bricks, a bee box, hedgehog homes and highways. There’s also a deadwood feature, a scented garden and wildflower turf.

Homebuyers moving to the new community will have the benefit of a 244-acre country park on their doorstep, whilst still being close to a wide range of useful amenities in Edwinstowe. For more information about the properties available, call the David Wilson Homes sales team on 033 3355 8473 or visit the website at Thoresby Vale.
