An award-winning principal contractor has demonstrated its commitment to community causes by pledging significant support to a local fundraising initiative.

Hamilton-based firm, Procast Group, has donated £10,000 to support Bravehearts Boxing Gym who are undertaking the ‘Long Way Doon’ challenge for Comic Relief, which will see 15 participants run 400 miles over 10 consecutive days from BBC Scotland in Glasgow to BBC Broadcasting House in London.

The challenge, which begins on 9th March, has been organised in aid of Comic Relief and aims to raise vital funds to help tackle poverty and social injustice across the UK and internationally.

The boxing gym, located just minutes from Procast Group’s head office in Hamilton, has already shared its gratitude publicly, highlighting how the company’s backing has provided additional motivation during training and preparation for the challenge.

Steven McMillan, founder and owner of Bravehearts Boxing Gym, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Procast for their generosity. As fellow members of the Hamilton community, it’s fantastic to see a local business lend their support to uplift others.

“This donation will help change lives and raise awareness for a cause close to our hearts, and for our team, support like this allows us to push ourselves further. When our legs get heavy, knowing that Procast is behind us is a real motivator to keep going.”

In addition to the financial donation, Procast Group is working closely with the team to further promote the challenge and encourage additional donations through the official JustGiving page, helping to maximise awareness and fundraising momentum in the lead-up to the event.

Derek Innes, Owner and Managing Director of Procast Group, said: “We are extremely proud to support this fundraiser and the people behind it. Their determination, discipline and commitment to raising money for Comic Relief and those within our communities who need it most, is inspiring.

“As a business rooted in the local community, we believe it’s important to support initiatives that make a real difference to people’s lives and give back to the people in the communities in which we operate.
“We wish the Bravehearts Boxing Gym team every success as they take on this remarkable challenge.”
