Leading developers Barratt and David Wilson Homes have once again teamed up with a local walking group to give residents in an Oxfordshire community a chance to gain valuable insight into the area.
Having initially organised a walk in January 2023, Banbury and North Oxfordshire Ramblers returned to the housebuilders’ Bodicote developments, The Pavilions and Whitechapel Gardens, in order to welcome new residents to the area with a couple of stunning local walks.
On the two walks, the first had the group taking a trail towards nearby Broughton Castle, whilst the second enjoyed a stroll along the Oxford Canal. The interim period between the walks was used to visit the local Horse and Jockey pub for a bite to eat.
With the aim of walking to enjoy the outdoors, meet new friends and improve mental and physical wellbeing, the Ramblers also involve themselves in pathway and green space maintenance.
As well as taking in the stunning scenery that the semi-rural setting has to offer, the walk is also particularly useful to residents as it also features the local schools, pubs, restaurants, shops, and could inspire some dog-walking routes too.
Roy Clements, Publicity Officer at Banbury and North Oxfordshire Ramblers, said: “You could drive thousands of miles and see wonderful scenery but need to be out and about in the landscapes to appreciate the beauty and tranquillity of our glorious countryside.
“You will see all sorts of wildlife, crops and animals in fields, forests, hills and waterways and be aware of the living world around us whilst making many new friends. The Ramblers have helped me to appreciate all of these things.”
Gavin Lambert, Sales Manager at David Wilson Homes Mercia, said: “We are delighted to have once again welcomed the Ramblers to the developments and are thrilled that some of our residents were able to attend the walks.
“We want to ensure that our residents aren’t only gaining a home, but a whole new community, and we are happy to help them to feel settled after moving in.
“These walks organised by Banbury and North Oxfordshire Ramblers are a great way to learn more about the local area and potentially make some new friends along the way.”
Tanya Silk, Sales Director at Barratt Homes West Midlands, said: “These walks are truly showing the best that Banbury and Bodicote have to offer, and there are few more acquainted with the area than Banbury and North Oxfordshire Ramblers. “As they have such an intimate knowledge of the area, we encourage all of our new residents to get in touch with the Ramblers and join in on some of their other upcoming walking events.”
