Genesis Homes names Jigsaw Children’s Hospice as Charity of the Year for 2019

Jigsaw Children’s Hospice can count on the support of another local business as Genesis Homes pledges its support to the charity for 2019. This will include an 18-month programme of fundraising events, as well as the housebuilder providing professional assistance for the Hospice’s building projects.

Visiting an open day at the Hospice, Genesis Homes’ Managing Director Nicky Gordon said: “I was given a guided tour of the facilities by one of the nurses and was completely taken aback by the level of care and sincerity in their work. In life we take many things for granted and it was humbling to see how the Hospice helps and supports children, young adults and their families. We’ll be doing lots of fundraising throughout 2019 as well as helping the hospice with their planned construction works.”

Fundraising events already organised have included a Christmas Jumper Day, and a Charity Ball to be held at The Halston in Carlisle on 9 November 2019, with many more options in the pipeline. A charity auction at the ball will raise funds jointly for Jigsaw Children’s Hospice and Eden Valley Hospice. Earlier in 2018 the Penrith-based company sponsored Grant Seaton from the Cumberland Building Society as he completed 10 half-marathons to raise funds for the charity.

Jigsaw Children’s Hospice has been operating since 2007 in its purpose-built facility designed to help care for children and young adults throughout Cumbria. Providing each child with personalised care and aiming to create a home away from home, the charity helps children and young adults maintain their normal routines and to make their stay as enjoyable as possible.

Natalie Bingham, Corporate Relationship Co-ordinator at Jigsaw said: “We’re really excited by this new charity partnership and we can’t wait to work alongside Nicky and the team for the next 18 months! The hospice has some grand plans for 2019 and with the expertise and knowledge from Genesis Homes, hopefully some of our dreams will start to become a reality.”
