Four Leicestershire based businesses and a primary school are combining resources in order to raise £29,000 to help build a school as part of global initiative called “buildOn” which has so far constructed 1,300 schools in some of the most economically poorest countries on the planet.
The Leicester based initiative is being spearheaded by Stacey Dean & Kerry Goodacre from ClubsComplete who have garnered support from Miles Sneath from Milestone Wealth, Jas Darar from Reach Business Coaching and Charlotte Barnett from workplace consultants and interior fit-out specialists Blueprint Interiors.
Each company has pledged to raise the £29,000 between them and their clients and to then travel to a developing country to help build the school later in Winter 2020/Spring 2021. Children from Moira Primary School have also pledged to raise £1,000 during this academic year.
Commenting Stacey Dean said, “We have always had a dream to help build a school in a country that is not as fortunate as our own and give something back to children that deserve an education like those we teach in the UK. Teaching is the one profession that creates all others and my entire career so far has been dedicated to education for this reason. I believe it is important for the children we teach to identify with those less fortunate by being involved in this project.”
Charlotte Barnett, Business Development Manager from Blueprint Interiors added, “We hope that by becoming a partner in a buildOn project to help build a school in a developing country we can empower villages to be able to bring educational opportunities to their young people. Having worked with some inspirational education providers in the past we have seen first-hand how the experiences of students can be positively transformed with the support of commercial partnerships.”
Jas Darar from Reach Business Coaching continued, “Both my parents were born in India and in 2000 I visited there for the first and only time. I was struck by the abject poverty and lack of opportunities people had. I was also humbled by just how much we had in our country that we took for granted.”
Miles Sneath from Milestone Wealth added, “A part of Milestone’s mission statement is to use profits to help charities and good causes, and this Primary PPA buildOn project is certainly a great cause to help with.”
There is an opportunity for one more business to get involved in the project and ClubsComplete is also using its connections with schools to encourage them to arrange their own fundraising events.
