B&DWEC - The group taking on the cycle challenge for The King's Trust
Amelia Coker, an ASPIRE Programme Construction Graduate, completed the Hadrian’s Wall Cycle, a 93-mile cycle route spanning from coast to coast.
Alongside a team of family members and friends, she cycled from Port Carlisle in Allerdale to Tyneside, taking on steep hills and successfully raising over £1,000 for her selected charity.
Amelia and her support team completed the challenge in less than two days, including pitstops along the way and a well-deserved night sleep in Hayden Bridge. She raised a total of £1,115, and following match-funding from Barratt and David Wilson Homes, she was able to donate £2,115 to The King’s Trust.
She said: “I am so proud of the team for completing such a huge challenge with nothing but smiles and laughter.
“We’re amazed with the total we raised for The King’s Trust, which will go towards supporting young people from disadvantaged background through courses, resources, and education.”
Established in 1976, The King’s Trust is a leading UK youth charity dedicated to empowering young people, aged 11 to 30, from disadvantaged communities and those facing the greatest adversity, by supporting them to build the confidence and skills to live, learn and earn.
The Prince’s Trust, now renamed The King’s Trust, has supported more than one million young people across the UK.
Sinead Ward, Senior Manager of Employee Fundraising at The King’s Trust, said: We are so grateful to Team Golden Bricks for all of their fundraising efforts for The King’s Trust Million Makers 2024 challenge and to the Barratt Foundation for their generous match funding. It has been fantastic to see the team take on personal fundraising challenges and grow throughout the competition - they have exceeded expectations and the funds they have raised will help to change the lives of young people.
Tom Wright, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Eastern Counties, said: “We’re extremely proud of Amelia for completing this amazing challenge and raising a fantastic amount of money for The King’s Trust.
“We’re thrilled to show our support for her and The Trust by contributing to her donation. We hope this will help more young people across the country overcome their own challenges.”
