Pennyfarthing Homes, the award-winning Hampshire-based housebuilder, has submitted detailed plans for the next phase of its Sandle Park development, located off Whitsbury Road in Fordingbridge. The reserved matters application follows the approval of the first phase of 74 homes, which was approved in May 2025, and where construction is due to start on site imminently.
This next phase proposes 100 new homes, with 25% being affordable properties through Affordable Rent, Shared Ownership, and the First Homes scheme, offering vital opportunities for local first-time buyers and families to own a home in the community. A feature of this phase is the inclusion of 35 single-storey bungalows, catering to downsizers and those seeking adaptable, accessible living. The overall mix will include one- to four-bedroom homes, carefully designed to meet a wide range of household needs.
Green space and community wellbeing are central to the development. Residents will benefit from extensive landscaping, including a large play area, informal open spaces, and the integration of existing footpaths connecting to the surrounding countryside. These features are designed to encourage active lifestyles, create a welcoming environment, and support a strong sense of community.
The architecture draws on Pennyfarthing Homes’ popular ‘New Forest’ house type, and the result is a blend of traditional local character and contemporary quality. In addition, the layout for this phase incorporates sustainable drainage and EV charging infrastructure, aligning with Pennyfarthing’s wider commitment to building greener, future-ready communities.
Nick Stone, Land and Planning Director at Pennyfarthing Homes, commented: “The first phase of Sandle Park was met with support from the Council, and we are excited to build on that success with this next 100 homes. This phase delivers a carefully crafted mix of homes and green spaces, ensuring Sandle Park meets local needs while enhancing Fordingbridge’s character. Our focus on sustainable design, accessibility, and quality materials means this will be a place people are proud to call home.”
Sandle Park is part of the wider Forde Valley area, renowned for its welcoming community and beautiful surrounding countryside, which also includes Whitsbury Green, another Pennyfarthing Homes development that is now almost fully sold. Local amenities, including schools, independent shops, cafes, and an art deco cinema, ensure residents have everything they need within easy reach, while the abundance of footpaths, cycle routes, and open spaces support outdoor activity and wellbeing.
With planning for the first phase already secured and access from Whitsbury Road agreed, the next phase of Sandle Park continues Pennyfarthing Homes’ commitment to delivering high-quality, sustainable homes, blending a variety of housing options with generous green spaces and a strong sense of place.
