AN INTERNATIONALLY-known advanced fastening technology manufacturer has doubled the size of its production facility with a multi-million-pound extension built by construction specialist Clegg Group.
The extension to EJOT’s current site in Sherburn in Elmet, near Leeds, will increase the company’s storage capabilities, enabling the fastening products manufacturer to fulfil orders more readily across Europe and beyond.
Clegg Group operated as principal contractor under a design and build contract on the project, managing the construction works and building services installation over a nine-month period.
John Moxon, business development director at Clegg Group, said: “We’re delighted to have completed this key project, which will massively increase EJOT’s capacity and support its UK and European operations.
“Extending existing sites is always a challenge, especially when normal daily operations are continuing on site. However, with careful planning and working collaboratively with the EJOT team, we have been able to successfully complete the project.”
The extension works have enabled the company to repurpose the existing section of the building that was formerly used for storage to enhance its on-site manufacturing capabilities.
Robert Hardstaff, managing director at EJOT, said: “For some time, we have been at the limits of maximising our factory, warehouse, and office space. The investment into the building upgrades is therefore part of a long-term vision and was diligently planned long before the global pandemic.
“With the backing of EJOT Group Holdings – our parent company in Germany – which was seen as a clear vote of confidence, we decided to move forward with the extension post lockdown. The additional space will increase our capacity for research, development, and testing as well as expand our product offering and reputation as a centre of manufacturing excellence.
“We have been really pleased with Clegg Group and its site team, who have been instrumental in ensuring the success of this strategic project.”
Clegg Group has been operating for almost 90 years, and is a trusted partner for delivering high quality, safe and sustainable construction projects. The firm works across a wide range of sectors including food and drink, residential, education, healthcare, industrial, warehousing and logistics and much more.
