Civic, the team of system thinkers in the built environment, continues to strengthen its building services engineering and sustainability team with a series of senior hires in Manchester and London.
Nathaniel Hague has joined as associate director in Manchester, having worked as a chartered mechanical engineer for more than a decade. Nathaniel specialises in delivering innovative, low-energy building solutions across a range of sectors, including residential, commercial, healthcare and co-living developments, and previously worked at Atelier Ten.
Joining Civic in London is Caroline Webb, associate, and mechanical and electrical engineer. Caroline has extensive design experience with a focus on cultural and heritage buildings, and at Civic is working on a broad range of projects, from the refurbishment of two listed hotels in London, to residential-led regeneration in Sheffield.
In addition, Gavril Borovanski joins in London as associate electrical engineer, with experience in listed buildings, residential, museums, commercial developments and transport infrastructure, advising on electrical, lighting, security, and fire alarm systems from concept to construction.
Also joining Civic as senior mechanical engineers are Lewis Hughes in Manchester, and Benedict Holland in London. With a combined total of 13 years’ industry experience, they both work on the building services design for a broad mix of residential developments, Grade I and II buildings and commercial projects such as offices, restaurants, bars and hotels.
It’s the latest series of hires for the growing team. Over the last six months, the team has more than doubled its headcount, including welcoming Olivier Boennec as a technical director in London earlier this year.

Civic has gained a reputation for providing low carbon sustainable design solutions for clients, with current work including Capital & Centric’s iconic Littlewoods building project in Liverpool, the regeneration of Cannon Brewery in Sheffield into a mixed-use, residential-led masterplan, Leeds City Village, Collyhurst Village, Trafford Wharf in Manchester and Holiday Inn Birmingham Airport.
