The average homebuyer could save up to £183 every month when choosing a newbuild property over an older home, according to the latest figures from the Home Builders Federation (HBF).
Developer Balfour Beatty Homes has said that more and more people buying with them are interested in the energy-saving properties of newbuild homes, both due to saving costs and the reduced carbon emissions.
Not only that but under the new Part L regulations, newbuild homes built from June 2023 will use just 31 per cent of the amount of energy that the average existing property uses. That means big savings for homebuyers – money that can be spent on furniture for their new home, a family holiday or putting aside for a rainy day.
Gill Sabin, Sales and Marketing Director for Balfour Beatty Homes, said: “Over the last few years we’ve seen an increasing number of people through our doors clued up on all the benefits of buying new – and the reduced energy bills and carbon emissions are top of many of their lists.
“In fact, buyers of newbuild homes in 2023 reduced carbon emissions by 500,000 tonnes – good for the planet and their wallets!
“Here at Balfour Beatty, we look to build desirable, energy-efficient new homes that are tailored to modern people’s lives. Any properties built from June 2023 onwards will also benefit from Part L regulations, which are estimated to save house buyers around £2,575 a year – perhaps enough to take the family away for an extra holiday or upgrade some furnishings to match the buyer’s smart new surroundings.
“We welcome people to visit any of their local Balfour Beatty Homes sites and talk to us about why it’s a good time to buy a newbuild property.”
