Less than six months after beginning work with Genesis Homes as a Senior Site Manager, Mark Cash has been promoted to Head of Construction at the new Penrith-based housebuilder.

Mark has worked in the construction industry since finishing school – and even before when he would help every weekend at his family’s roofing firm. The promotion continues a rapid career trajectory for Mark, following a successful stint at Story Homes where he was taken on as a trainee and promoted to Assistant Site Manager before even finishing his probation.

Mark said: “It’s great to work for such a young company creating a product that’s so fresh and unique in Cumbria. You really have the chance to grow with the company, to put your mark on things and make sure everything is done right from day one.”

There’s a busy time ahead for Mark, with Genesis Homes due to begin construction on its Sanders Brow site in Armathwaite in the Eden Valley in February. Construction also continues on the housebuilder’s Brigham and Wigton sites, plus there are several more sites in earlier stages of planning including in Burgh-by-Sands and the village of Cumwhinton near Carlisle.

Mark said: “We have some really beautiful small sites and exclusive developments in the pipeline. Cumbria can sometimes present interesting challenges from a construction perspective and it’s so satisfying to create such a high-quality finished product on those sites and to see people moving into their new homes.”

Having lived locally his whole life, Mark now lives with his wife in Clifton, close to Penrith where Genesis Homes is headquartered. Genesis Homes celebrated its first anniversary in July 2018 and now employs close to 30 people directly, with over 100 jobs created locally.

Genesis Homes’ Managing Director Nicky Gordon said: “We always aim to attract and promote talented and ambitious people who are driven to make their mark and deliver an outstanding product. Mark makes a great contribution to our team and we’re looking forward to seeing him develop further in his new role.”
