There are some truly breathtaking construction projects across the world - some so good, they have won world records and are now recognised as worldwide landmarks. But what about those ‘once famous’ achievements in construction that previously held the record?
Loveholidays looked into Guinness World Record books to discover previous, record-holding construction projects that can be found across the world.
They compared the latest Guinness World Record book with data analysed from the previous editions from 2000, 2005, 2010 and 2015.
The research has revealed where these once famous landmarks are located so we can go and show them some love.
The construction industry is one for conquering the skies and what better way of showcasing this than the truly breathtaking skyscrapers that dwarf our cities and towns? Across the world there are many spectacular skyscrapers worthy of a visit, The 21st Century Tower in Dubai held the world record for the world's “Tallest Residential building”.

If you are one for a spot of retail therapy, West Edmonton Mall, Canada was once the place to be! Previously known as the world's largest shopping centre, and across 5.3 million square feet it was hard to see why.

If heights is your thing, you may be familiar with the CN tower in Toronto. Once the world’s “Tallest Freestanding Structure”, this landmark was also declared as one of the Modern Seven Wonders of the world!
