At the ground-breaking of the Bridge Street Studios scheme in Central Birmingham, Midlands-based main contractor, QDTS Construction, have announced their innovative partnership with Home-Fresh® - a new technology that can be discreetly incorporated through a variety of products including paint, wall coverings, plaster, gypsum, carpets, and wood lacquer, to prevent the development of mould and odour-causing bacteria.
Home-Fresh® also has air purifying properties, similar to photosynthesis in plants. When Home-Fresh® technology comes into contact with natural or artificial light, it helps to break down indoor pollutants such as odours and particulate matter, resulting in a permanently healthier living or working environment.
Home-Fresh® is dedicated to supporting the residential and commercial construction and home improvement markets in delivering healthier buildings. Research conducted in collaboration with Aston University and HSL, Buxton has shown that building materials incorporating Home-Fresh® technology retain all of their original properties but with added long-term freshness and protection from pathogens.
Sister brand to multi-award winning Micro-Fresh® - originally formulated to prevent the growth of mould on products in transit from countries with high humidity – the active ingredients in Home-Fresh® are naturally occurring, free from restricted substances and SVHC’s, and meet or exceed all building regulation standards.
QDTS Construction, along with developers Volume.Property and Bosworth Properties, have committed to trialling Home-Fresh® technology throughout their new 70 bed student accommodation scheme – Bridge Street Studios – in Central Birmingham.
Terry Benson, Founder and Managing Director of QDTS Construction Ltd said:
“We are delighted to have secured this ground-breaking new partnership with Home-Fresh®. At a time when we are all very aware of the spread of bacteria and the impact of our home and working environments on our wellbeing, this is a technology that will add real value and benefit to our construction projects and to the long-term health of our end users.”
Chief Commercial Officer of Home-Fresh®, Jigna Varu, confirmed:
“We want to raise the standard of living, as a fresher living environment should be the norm, not a privilege. Having grown up in social housing myself I recognise the long-term emotional and health effects that can occur as a result of mould and bacteria in homes. Our technology not only prevents the growth of mould and pathogenic bacteria, it also prevents indoor pollutants which all aid a healthier indoor environment.”
