Stamford based charity, The Mutts Nutts Rescue, has received a £1,500 donation from Barratt and David Wilson Homes to help its work providing a happy future for companion pets.

The charity, located near the homebuilders’ Barratt Homes at Bourne and The Willows developments in Bourne, provides practical support to the elderly and terminally ill members of the local community to ensure their companion pets lead happy, healthy lives. The charity achieves this through many means including fostering, dog walking, transporting pets to appointments and fundraising.

The donation came as part of the Barratt Developments Plc Charitable Foundation, which is designed to support national and local charities, large and small, across the UK to leave a legacy in the communities in which the housebuilder operates.

Jane Freeman, Founder and Chair of Trustees at The Mutts Nutts Rescue, said: “We were thrilled and very encouraged to see our small charity come to the attention of such a large and reputable company. We are so proud of what we do improving the lives of people and their pets, and to see our hard work recognised by Barratt and David Wilson Homes is amazing.

“Every penny of this donation will be spent on helping animals in need, either by providing veterinary care and special dietary foods for some of the elderly pets in our care, or boarding fees at a fantastic local cattery that provides emergency facilities.

“We receive no government funding and are totally reliant on donations from supporters and corporations such as Barratt and David Wilson Homes, whose kindness and generosity enables us to continue to provide the care and services that pets and their owners rely on.

“Everyone from The Mutts Nutts Rescue would like to offer Barratt and David Wilson Homes our most sincere thank you. Its Community Fund Scheme makes a huge difference to local charities that work so hard to improve the lives of those less fortunate in the community.”

Will Phair, Sales Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Cambridgeshire, said: “As a leading homebuilder we strive to support the communities in and around the areas in which we build, and we are delighted to be able to offer The Mutts Nutts Rescue a donation to support the fantastic work it does.

“To most of us, our pets are part of the family, so it is heart-warming to see charities like The Mutts Nutts Rescue looking out for the wellbeing of our small four-legged friends.”
