Pen Green Children's Centre in Corby is overjoyed after receiving a brand new outdoor renovation courtesy of VolkerFitzpatrick’s Magna Park team. The team dedicated their time and resources to revitalise the children’s outdoor space as part of their commitment to leaving a lasting legacy in the local Corby community.
In 2023, after speaking with Corby Foodbank, VolkerFitzpatrick identified Pen Green as a charity they wanted to support. Their initial contribution of hundreds of Easter eggs was warmly received, prompting further discussions on how they could assist the centre.
Hannah from Pen Green remarked, “The children have absolutely loved being out there.”
Towards the end of 2023, a meeting was held to identify specific areas of the garden in need of development. The team then mobilised their supply chain to assist with the project, providing both time and materials.
David Rowell, VolkerFitzpatrick Project Manager said: “When we arrived, there were areas in need of development. We contacted our supply chain, and they generously donated their time and materials. It looks fantastic. The supply chain has done an incredible job, and our team has excelled in managing the project. From planning to completion, we handled everything. Seeing the children enjoying the new space is immensely satisfying, especially after they missed out on such environments during Covid.”
Hannah Wilson-Law from Pen Green expressed her gratitude: “With a lack of funding, we’ve struggled to maintain the garden space. The outdoors is crucial for children's development, and having a safe, rich environment for them is invaluable. Many of our children live in flats and missed out on outdoor spaces during Covid. Now, thanks to VolkerFitzpatrick, they have a beautiful area to play and learn.”
The transformation of Pen Green's garden stands as a testament to VolkerFitzpatrick's dedication to community support and improvement, ensuring the children have a vibrant and safe space to enjoy.
