An award-winning principal contractor has been recognised for its commitment to developing the next generation of skilled professionals after securing the accolade of SME Employer of the Year at the Scottish Apprenticeship Awards.
Hamilton-based firm, Procast Group, secured the national title at the awards ceremony held in Glasgow on Thursday, 26 February, celebrating its investment in apprentices and dedication to creating meaningful, long-term career opportunities.
The Scottish Apprenticeship Awards celebrate the achievements of apprentices, employers and learning providers across the country, highlighting the contribution apprenticeships make to Scotland’s communities and economy.
The award recognises small and medium-sized employers who provide high-quality training, mentorship and structured development pathways that enable individuals to thrive. Procast Group was honoured for supporting individuals from a wide range of backgrounds including school leavers, career changers and those pursuing a practical alternative to further study.
Procast’s apprenticeship programme also strengthens the workforce while helping to address skills gaps across the construction and retrofit sectors.
Kirstie Adams, Support Services Director at Procast Group, said:
“Winning SME Employer of the Year is a fantastic achievement for Procast Group and, most importantly, a recognition of our apprentices and the integral contribution they make to our business every day.
“We firmly believe apprenticeships are one of the most powerful ways to open doors, creating meaningful opportunities for people from all backgrounds and at different stages of life. We are committed to providing the support and experience needed to build long-term careers.
“This award win reinforces our commitment to investing in people, supporting them to develop essential practical skills and help close skills gaps across the industry so we can continue delivering projects our communities rely on.”
Procast Group, which employs more than 130 staff, is a market leader in retrofitting work and innovative multi-trade contracting projects across Scotland and the North of England. More than ten per cent of the current workforce are apprentices.
The group also operates from offices in Aberdeen, West Lothian and Dumfries.
