Region leads the conversation on low carbon energy and agri-food as it announces two speaker sessions at the real estate investor forum

For the first time the whole of Greater Lincolnshire is being represented in one place as the region exhibits at UKREiiF in Leeds next week.

Councils from across Greater Lincolnshire will be representing the region and showcasing significant investment opportunities that will drive the local economy for years to come.

The Greater Lincolnshire contingent will be providing two speaker sessions at UKREiiF within the Midlands Engine Partnership Pavilion, led by nationally recognised sector specialists. The speaker sessions are Lincolnshire: Feeding the UK, and Energy in the UK: How Lincolnshire is at the Forefront of the Low Carbon Energy Sector.

Exhibiting alongside other regions and organisations over the course of the three-day event, Greater Lincolnshire is taking a sector-led approach. With its already established industries in five core sectors: agri-food, low carbon energy, defence, advanced engineering and manufacturing and visitor economy, the region is in a strong position to attract interest from investors.

With the sectors matching the UK Government’s priorities over the next 20-30 years, Greater Lincolnshire is basing its sector propositions on the significant needs of the population now and in the future.

Across these sectors and others, more than 30,000 skilled jobs will be created over the next 20 years, creating a multi skilled functional workforce across Greater Lincolnshire to develop, run, and maintain, for example, the low carbon/ renewable energy requirements - as the Government drives forward the need for the UK to produce its own power.

Lincolnshire is also home to the UK’s most ambitious industrial decarbonisation project in the Humber estuary, a major circular economy cluster, and the country’s leading offshore renewables hub.

The need for new infrastructure and communities to enable this growth, not just in the north of the region, but also to deliver key projects in the east, west and south of the region, is what Greater Lincolnshire will be talking to investors, developers and funders about at the event.

Lincolnshire excels in food processing and agri-tech and was chosen as one of the Government’s manufacturing zones. This followed growth deal grants of £18 million, including £5.1 million for South Lincolnshire Food Enterprise Zone and £2.4 million for University of Lincoln’s Centre of Excellence in Agri-food and Technology at Holbeach.

At UKREiiF, Greater Lincolnshire will be sharing its investment opportunities including the South Lincolnshire Food Enterprise Zone, Humber Freeport, offshore renewables hub, hotel sites ready for development, land earmarked for housing, multiple business centres and commercial space.

UKREiiF runs from 21 to 23 May and is set to attract more than 12,000 delegates from the property industry, with more than 250 UK local authorities in attendance and 70 guest speakers. The Greater Lincolnshire Pavilion is within the Pavilion Zone.
