Kier to deliver major £57m Student Village for University of Warwick

• 828 student bedrooms to be provided in a mix of townhouses and cluster blocks

• Existing five accommodation blocks to be demolished to make way for new buildings

• Kier is building over 1,000 rooms for the University with 267 room project at the recently completed Sherbourne residences

Kier has been appointed by the University of Warwick to build a major £57m Student Village by redeveloping its Cryfield Student Village in the second accommodation scheme Kier is working on with the University.

The project will see Kier provide 828 new student bedrooms in a mixture of townhouses and cluster blocks, as well as a new ‘village hall’ building containing offices, a laundrette, a post room and student meeting areas, taking the total number of rooms Kier is currently building for the University up to over 1,000.

The development has been designed to provide a miniature village on campus, with a series of townhouse apartments and studios surrounding the hub building in the centre.

The existing five accommodation blocks of the Redfern halls of residences will be demolished to make way for the 12 buildings that make up the village.

The project is one of the largest single residential build projects the University has undertaken and forms part of its wider capital projects investment programme, which is seeing the University invest on average £59m each year between 2010 and 2020.

Enabling works are currently underway, with the first students due to move in during Summer 2019, with overall completion by Christmas 2020.

We are looking forward to continuing our strong working relationship with the University to deliver this key redevelopment which will help meet this rise in demand.”

This scheme is the latest student accommodation project Kier is delivering and adds to its experience in this sector, where it’s currently on site delivering over 1,500 student rooms across the country.

This project also reinforces Kier’s position in the further and higher education sector, where they are building over £100m of facilities for universities across the country, including the University of Cambridge, University College Birmingham, University of Edinburgh and University of Wales Trinity Saint David.
