Construction is progressing well at a 278-home development in Greenwich, where over half of the homes in the second phase have already been sold.
Bellway London is building 98 apartments in phase two at The River Gardens, off Banning Street, after completing work on the Broadside Apartments and Meridian Court buildings that delivered a total of 180 homes in phase one.
The second and final phase comprises 84 apartments for private for sale - of which 44 have already been reserved – within the Maritime Apartments building, as well as 14 affordable homes for rent or shared ownership. Building work at the development is due to conclude next spring.
As well as 278 apartments, The River Gardens also includes a residents’ gym, swimming pool, children’s play areas, residents’ garden, and a concierge service.
Emma Hamlett, Sales Director for Bellway London, said: “We have reached a significant milestone at The River Gardens, with over 50 per cent of the homes within the Maritime Apartments building already reserved.
“The first phase at The River Gardens attracted buyers at various stages of the property ladder, but we saw particular interest from professionals looking for good transport links to Canary Wharf and the rest of the capital, as well as first-time buyers taking advantage of the London Help to Buy scheme.
“This demand has continued into phase two, which has proved extremely popular since the first apartments went on sale in February. The dedicated work from home spaces that have been created in the Maritime Apartments will allow buyers to create home office spaces comfortably and easily, with access to extra electrical and data sockets, while also possibly having the benefits of river views from their desk.
“The River Gardens is situated in one of London’s most desirable and well-connected areas, and offers stunning views across the River Thames, so we don’t expect the remaining homes to be on the market for long.”
Under the London Help to Buy scheme, first-time buyers can secure a new-build home up to the value of £600,000 at The River Gardens with just a five per cent deposit and a 55 per cent mortgage. The remaining 40 per cent is provided in the form of an equity loan, which is interest free for the first five years.
Bellway is currently selling a range of one, two and three-bedroom apartments at The River Gardens, with prices starting from £485,000. A show apartment is available to view by appointment.
