VolkerFitzpatrick has secured a place on Lot 2 of Highways England’s £8.7 billion Delivery Integration Partnership Framework. Lot 2 is worth £350 million, split between two contractors, and covers packages in the South East and East of England.
The new framework will replace Highways England’s current Collaborative Delivery Framework and includes schemes such as conventional road widening and junction improvements. The new framework will allocate works primarily over the next three years.
Each of the eight lots within the framework has been allocated its own budget and geographical area, allowing delivery partners to integrate with communities on a more local level.
VolkerFitzpatrick has initially secured a package to deliver a full grade separation and free-flow link between the A34 and Junction 9 of the M3, with design beginning June 2019. The business will also deliver dual carriageway widening, junction improvements and highway upgrade works to the A27 Lewes, with design beginning September 2019.
Chris Evans, managing director of VolkerFitzpatrick’s Civils division, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded this package, continuing our collaboration with Highways England as they begin this new framework. The regional approach will allow us to deliver our in-house highways expertise in a way which most benefits the communities in which we work.”
