The contract supports the construction of a 1450 MW combined cycle power plant by Sonelgaz, a state owned utility company in Algeria. Keller’s work involves producing a working platform of about 90,000 m³, and installing 260,000 metres of stone columns to mitigate liquefaction and 47,500 metres of bored piles as foundation support.
The contract value is around £28m. Work has now started on site and is expected to be complete in the first quarter of 2019.
Thorsten Holl, President, EMEA Division, comments:
“This is Keller’s largest ever project in Algeria where we have been active for 12 years. The award recognises our capacity to bring a full design solution to the client as well as our reputation for executing to high standards.”
