Cambridgeshire housebuilder’s donation inspires ‘budding’ young gardeners

Cambridgeshire developer David Wilson Homes has donated a range of gardening equipment and seeds to a local school for National Children’s Gardening Week (25^th May – 2^nd June 2024).

Green fingered pupils at Alconbury C of E Primary School, which is close to the housebuilder’s new Alconbury Weald development in Huntingdon, have received a number of gardening gloves, aprons and tools, along with vegetable seeds to enrich their joy of gardening.

National Children’s Gardening Week celebrates the fun gardens hold for children, who love involving themselves in gardening but can often lack the patience to see the results of their good work. National Children’s Gardening Week aims to capture children’s enthusiasm at a time when results are immediate, in the ‘warm’ week at the end of May.

Stephanie Clitheroe, Deputy Head at Alconbury C of E Primary School, said: “We are very grateful for the gardening donations as school budgets are getting tighter every year. Our children will love planting the vegetables, watching them grow and hopefully feasting on them later in the year.”
