Bargate Homes Commences Construction on Third Phase of Flagship Rivercross Scheme in Warsash

Bargate Homes has started construction on the third phase of its flagship Rivercross scheme in the coastal village of Warsash, Hampshire. Called Heron’s Quarter, it is the fourth phase of the £128m development where the award-winning housebuilder is delivering a total of 253 energy-efficient homes. 

Located on land north of Greenaway Lane, 28 new homes will be delivered, featuring a mix of one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom properties in a varied collection of two-storey detached, semi-detached and terraced houses. 40% of the homes will be delivered to VIVID for affordable housing. As with each phase of Rivercross, Heron’s Quarter will feature a new public open space to enhance the character of the area and contribute to the considered community feel. 

The £22m Heron’s Quarter scheme is expected to take approximately 24 months to complete. The whole Rivercross development will be completed in 2025 and during its construction will have 40 to 50 operatives on site, boosting the local economy. 

Rivercross is situated at the mouth of the river Hamble, less than a mile from the world-famous Warsash Maritime Academy. All homes at Rivercross are being built to a high EPC rating, ensuring future residents can significantly lower their carbon footprint and benefit from energy savings. Parking is available for each property, including private driveways, parking courts, and space for street parking.

New public open spaces are being created across each phase of Rivercross, enhancing the character of the area, and delivering both recreational and ecological benefits. Green buffer zones around the perimeter of the site are being created around the development, to protect existing on-site ecology and retain and enhance local wildlife corridors. High quality trees on the site are being protected and retained. There will also be extensive native tree and shrub planting to benefit local bird populations, and specific ‘green corridors’ created for the local reptile populace. Bat and bird boxes are being installed within the walls of new dwellings.

Three show homes are now open daily at Phase one of the Rivercross development, with interiors designed exclusively by Southampton-based The Garden Society, and by regional home-staging company, In-House. 

Rivercross is two miles away from the M27, which provides convenient connectivity across the south of England. Southampton city centre is eight miles away from Warsash, while Portsmouth’s historic dockyard is 13 miles away. Nearby Swanwick train station provides regular direct connections to both port cities, and onwards travel to London.
