Leading infrastructure business celebrates record win at National Site Awards

Robertson, one of the UK’s leading infrastructure firms, has received a record number of awards at a prestigious industry ceremony.

A total of 22 Robertson projects were honoured in Edinburgh and Manchester at the National Site Awards, operated by the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS).

The outstanding performance demonstrates the continued commitment of Robertson in delivering the Scheme’s code of conduct to the highest levels across Appearance, Community, Environment, Safety and Workforce. 

Three sites were honoured with the highest accolade, a Gold award, at the ceremonies. It was success for the education sector, with the £15.6million North East Campus in Dundee and Muirfield Primary School in Arbroath both receiving the top accolade.

Once complete, North East Campus will consist of a new primary school and nursery campus that will bring modern, custom designed facilities to families in the area. It’s been the site of several community initiatives, including emergency first aid training for subcontractors and placement opportunities for local young people.

It was also a CCS Awards first for Robertson Homes as its Almondell, Mid Calder site received Gold status.

Robertson also collected a CCS Ultra Site Certificate of Recognition for The Event Complex Aberdeen (TECA) for the third consecutive year, with the pioneering industry project demonstrating the highest level of attainment within the CCS, acting as a beacon of best practice within the UK construction industry.

Ten sites received Silver awards, including the Inverness Justice Centre - Scotland’s first purpose built Justice Centre – the Spanish City regeneration in Whitley Bay and the Western Road Depot Improvement project in Kilmarnock, which was led by Robertson’s civil engineering business.

A further nine sites received Bronze status.

The awards are open to all sites registered with the scheme, which aims to improve standards within the industry. The projects were scored against five different criteria: community, appearance, environment, workforce and safety. Robertson has been registering its sites with CCS for more than ten years.

In 2015, Robertson received Partner Membership status with the Considerate Constructors Scheme.

As well as attending both ceremonies, Robertson is hosting an internal event for employees to celebrate its significant achievement.

Several sites awarded were procured through Scape Group’s National Major Works framework, now superseded by Major Works Scotland, part of the Scape National Construction framework being delivered by Robertson in partnership with Wilmott Dixon.
