Balfour Beatty, the international infrastructure group, today announces the appointment of Emma Loxton as Chief Strategy Officer, further strengthening the Group Executive Committee as the business continues to deliver its profitable growth strategy and advance its Evolve, Energise, Explore growth plan.

Emma joins from McKinsey & Company, where she spent more than a decade advising major industrial and infrastructure businesses on strategy, transformation and growth. She was a partner at McKinsey, most recently leading their UK Advanced Industries and Transport & Infrastructure practices. Earlier in her career, she was a Senior Policy Advisor in the UK Government’s Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit.

Reporting to Philip Hoare, Group Chief Executive, Emma will lead Balfour Beatty’s strategy function when she joins in October. She will help shape and deliver the Group’s long-term strategy, supporting the next phase of growth across its chosen markets and building on Balfour Beatty’s end-to-end infrastructure capability, presence in the UK, US and Asia, and priority growth markets of UK energy, UK transport, UK defence and US buildings.

Philip Hoare, Balfour Beatty Group Chief Executive, said: “Emma is a proven strategy and transformation leader with a strong track record of helping complex organisations sharpen performance, strengthen competitiveness and deliver lasting change.

“Her insight, energy and commercial focus will be invaluable as we continue to execute our strategy, progress Evolve, Energise, Explore and capture the opportunities created by strong demand for complex, critical infrastructure across our chosen markets. I am delighted to welcome her to Balfour Beatty.”
