Leading North West property services company, The Momentum Group, has been appointed by the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead (RBWM) to deliver a £1.7 million refurbishment project, transforming an industrial unit into a temporary housing shelter. The project, located at John West House on Howarth Road in Maidenhead, will provide 16 rooms for people experiencing homelessness as part of the council’s Rough Sleeper Pathway, which currently supports 41 residents.
Set to be delivered by the Group’s construction arm, Momentum Build, the refurbishment is a key part of RBWM’s efforts to tackle homelessness, following the adoption of its updated rough sleeping strategy five years ago. The site, vacant since June 2022, will undergo significant upgrades, including the construction of a mezzanine floor and a new glazed roof for the courtyard area, ensuring the building meets the needs of its future residents.
This appointment underscores The Momentum Group’s ongoing commitment to people, places, the planet, and professionalism, aligning with its recent B Corp™ certification. The company’s commitment to the community is further supported by its philanthropic arm, the Momentum Foundation, which aids numerous local charities and The Group’s volunteering programme which has seen Momentum Build providing pro bono support to various local charities. The John West House project ties into this commitment, as the Group works to transform the site into a vital resource for vulnerable individuals, reinforcing its role in delivering meaningful social impact initiatives.
Dan Lewis, Construction Director of The Momentum Group, said: “Working with the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead to deliver this £1.7 million refurbishment project is not just about refurbishing a building. Rather, it is about creating a supportive environment for some of the most vulnerable members of the community and is a project that perfectly aligns with our values as a B Corp™ certified business and our commitment to social impact.”
Colin Smith, Senior Project Manager of The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Property Company, commented: “The Momentum Group was chosen not only for their expertise as leaders in the property services industry but also for their commitment to supporting projects that create meaningful social impact. Their recent B Corp™ certification and dedication to their communities align perfectly with our values and goals and we look forward to watching the team realise our vision.”
This appointment further solidifies The Momentum Group’s expansion into the South of England, following the appointment last year to deliver property management services for the White Lion Walk Shopping Centre in Guildford with real estate investment manager Redevco.
