For years, the construction industry has been in need of transformative advancements. Nevertheless, in recent times, technological and innovative developments have begun to address some of the challenges faced by the sector—although a few persist.
Collaboration stands out as a notable challenge.
In a survey we conducted on our social media platforms last year, 71% of respondents concurred that the construction industry faces issues related to collaboration.
Despite the availability of numerous new technologies and Artificial Intelligence (AI) methods, one platform worth highlighting is AFFINITY. In one of our previous issue’s – 16.12, we conducted an interview with Richard Evans, founder of Affinity Construction to uncover the current issues the industry faces In terms for collaboration.
Recently, we spoke to Ben Hall, Founder of LOFT to find out more about his opinion on Affinity, and why it is vital to collaborate within construction.
How did you get involved with Affinity?
“I have known Richard Evans for 10+ years after exploring multiple supply chain opportunities in the UK & Lithuania with him.
“When he explained the concept of Affinity with me, I was 100% on board, offering the full support of my company LOFT.co.uk to his organisation.”
Why do you think it is important to collaborate, especially within construction?
“Sharing knowledge, information and best practise is essential in any business sector.
“The construction sector has been negatively affected by multiple macro-economic headwinds since 2019 - Brexit, plus Covid, plus Russia's invasion of Ukraine created record levels of inflation and a severe labour shortage - in this situation we must come together and pool our resources.”
What benefits do you see coming out of being a part of Affinity?
“Partnership, collaboration, reciprocal referrals, and adding value for the other members.
“LOFT can help grow the organisation across the North of England, our Head Office is based in central Manchester.”
What are Loft’s plans for 2024?
“LOFT plans to expand in 2024, offering our interior design and furnishing solution for social impact housing, single family housing, co-living and the retirement & care sector.
“The company is fundamentally purpose driven, in 2024 we will continue to lead the way with our environmental and social impact initiative's, such as tree planting, tree protection, and recycled / upcycled furnishing solutions.”
In conclusion, collaboration in construction is indispensable for fostering efficiency, innovation, and project success.
By bringing together diverse expertise, stakeholders can pool resources, streamline communication, and navigate complexities effectively.
This synergy not only enhances the quality of construction projects but also promotes a culture of teamwork, ensuring timely delivery and long-term sustainability in the ever-evolving construction industry.
Affinity does just that.
