AN area construction manager is celebrating 30 years of service with Redrow NW.
Gareth Wynne, 52, has been in the housebuilding industry since leaving school at 16, began his career as an electrician and joined Redrow at the age of 22 in 1993.
Since then, he has worked ‘though the ranks’, rising to site manager, project manager and, now area construction manager.
“I am in charge of a number of sites, currently looking after Kingsbourne, in Nantwich and Allerton Gardens and The Groves in Liverpool,” said Gareth, a father of two from Mold.
“I oversee the managers on each site, ensuring they are all delivering their targets and achieving the highest standards. I also look after build programmes, health and safety, customer care dealing and managing sub-contractors.”
Not only has Gareth worked on developments across North Wales and the North West, he’s also received a number of awards over the years, including an NHBC Pride in the Job Award, several LABC regional awards and the Welsh National LABC Award.
And it looks like Gareth’s son Liam is set to follow in his father’s footsteps, after recently joining the Redrow team as a civil engineering apprentice.
Liam, 21, will work alongside Redrow’s technical department and will be involved in every stage of the housebuilding process. He is working towards a Level 3 qualification in civil engineering.
Jason Newton, managing director at Redrow NW, said: “Congratulations to Gareth on reaching 30 years with Redrow.
“He is a much-respected member of the team and I wish him many more successful years ahead.”
Gareth added: “The construction industry has changed massively, in all areas since I started my career. But the principles have stayed the same from a business point of view. We’ve always been focussed on delivering the best possible homes for our customers.
“My advice for anyone looking at making a career in the construction industry, and I gave the same advice to my son, is to find a company that has values and one that looks after their staff. Be yourself, work hard and never be afraid to ask anyone anything.” To find out more about career opportunities with Redrow, go to www.redrowcareers.co.uk
