VolkerLaser were the main contractor on the project which was a key component of the West of England’s £230 million Metrobus scheme. The new bridge was designed to improve traffic flow for motorists and create more space for public transport, whilst also improving the environment for people who walk and cycle. The bridge, which includes a new 3.5 meter shared cycling and walking path provides the missing link between existing paths on Commercial Road and Cumberland Road.
The ICE South West Civil Engineering Awards celebrate outstanding civil engineering achievement, innovation and ingenuity around the South West.
Anthony Brown, divisional manager said “We are delighted the Bathurst Basin project has been recognised at these prestigious awards.”
