January 2019 saw the official launch of a new commercial design and build fit out company whose mission is to simplify the fit out process and pass the savings onto their customers.
Copper Projects is the brainchild of Lee Barnes and John Wicks, formerly Head of Construction and Commercial Head respectively at OD Solutions which was named ‘Fit-Out Contractor of the Year’ in 2017.
Barnes previously worked at ISG, 8build and Maris before five years at OD Solutions and Wicks Was previously at Curzon, Ibex and Chorus before eight years with OD Solutions. The duo decided to embark on this new venture in order to deliver a simplified and cost effective service to their clients; an offering they believe is much needed within the industry.
Choosing to champion local over international products, keeping overheads low and the supply chain small, Copper Projects is confident clients will see a difference when it comes to overall service and cost.
The Copper Projects team will provide the full turn-key service; workplace consultancy, design, fit-out work, move management, furniture, aftercare and ongoing maintenance.
Barnes commented: “The motivation to start my own business has always been there as was the drive to simplify the process. John and I share the same vision which is to deliver great projects and ensure the whole Design & Build process is clear, efficient and managed. Copper Projects has already secured an exciting project with real estate specialists Vastint UK. Sugar House Island is a collection of eight historic and new office buildings in east London, just south of Olympic Park.

Copper Projects is hoping 2019 will enable it to build on its strong start and deliver more exciting projects. The company is also looking to add serviced offices to their portfolio as this market grows ever stronger.
