Belgravia based facility becomes second Gilbert-Ash project to receive such recognition in 12 months
Leading construction and fit-out company, Gilbert-Ash, has welcomed confirmation its £24million Loveday Dementia Care Facility project at Belgravia in London has been recognised as a ‘BREEAM Outstanding’ project.
BREEAM is an internationally recognised standard for sustainability and to achieve this rating, the developer, architects and engineers must think outside the box in order to create a truly sustainable project.
In the UK, less than 1% of registered non-domestic buildings have achieved a BREEAM Outstanding rating. This is the second Gilbert-Ash project to have received this accreditation in under a year.
The project saw the design and construction of a new build six storey plus basement, 40,000 sq ft high quality dementia care facility providing 44 residential suites.
The works also included the creation of a main reception, dining room, lounge, kitchen, activity room, library, nurse rooms, bike store, offices, laundry, hydro spa, salon/spa, as well as external works and landscaping with external terraces to the ground, second and fifth floors.
Gilbert-Ash Managing Director, Ray Hutchinson said achieving this rating is further evidence of the company’s capability to deliver stand-out iconic projects.
“At Gilbert-Ash, we are proud to have delivered some of the most iconic spaces across the UK and Ireland, and we’re delighted to see Loveday Dementia Care Facility has become our second project in just 12 months to achieve BREEAM Outstanding certification.
“Innovation, collaboration, and determination drive everything we do, and this recognition is a testament to that commitment.”
Gilbert-Ash Environmental, Social and Governance Lead, Michael Heron said everyone involved with the project is proud their efforts have been recognised in this manner.
He said: “Gilbert-Ash is delighted to have worked to deliver our second ever BREEAM outstanding project.
“Many projects we have worked on have been recognised as either BREEAM Excellent or Very Good but this is just the second time we have been awarded the Outstanding rating.
“It would not have been possible to achieve this accreditation without early engagement with EPR Architects. Implementing BREEAM Outstanding will ensure resource efficiency and lower maintenance and energy costs over the structure’s lifespan.”
Gilbert-Ash has a unique approach to construction, fit-out and refurbishment based on the belief that great buildings come about through hard work, inspired innovation and genuine collaboration. It is also seeking to attract the industry’s best talent to deliver landmark projects.
