Construction work is well underway on the central hub for a popular new community in Leicestershire – Broadnook Court at Broadnook Garden Village.

A new coffee shop, farm shop, a tower and community facilities including two halls are just some of the characterful features being built at the landmark development, being led by local housebuilder Davidsons Homes.

Taking design inspiration from converted stables at stately homes, Broadnook Court is set to evoke memories from days gone by, with artisan features and facilities which are designed for local people to enjoy and make use of.

Iain Pickering, Design Director for Davidsons Homes, said: “Our vision for Broadnook Court is based on the traditionally beautiful courts that often accompany National Trust properties and the like, an area which will be a destination for both visitors and local people.

“Designing Broadnook Court has been a labour of love and in fact every detail has been considered – even orienting it with the sunrise and sunset in mind. We envisage this as a place that buyers at Broadnook Garden Village may wander to most weekends, meeting friends and family there to spend time drinking coffee, browsing artisanal shops or even hiring out one of the halls for a favourite leisure activity.

“With a lush, landscaped area, parkland opposite and ornamental trees surrounding, it’s set to be a wonderful focal point at Broadnook Garden Village.

“It’s not only the views within that visitors will enjoy, but the scenery that will be viewable from Broadnook Tower too. Gazing over miles of Leicestershire’s most beautiful landscapes, people will be able to see Belvoir Castle, Scraptoft and so much more. As a little nod to the film I was watching while designing the tower, it even has 39 steps leading up to its viewing platform. In fact, we’re even informally calling it ‘New John’ – the younger sibling of the county’s much-loved destination of ‘Old John’.”

The vision for Broadnook Garden Village is underpinned by its green ethos, with more than 50 per cent of the development being kept as green space including parks, allotments, play areas and sports pitches. Broadnook will boast leafy, tree-lined avenues, a pristine park, nature-friendly cycling trails and allotments that will keep the community in touch with the nature that surrounds it.

From nurseries, schools and a local care home, to shops, brand new sports facilities and cafes, Broadnook aims to provide everything individuals, growing families, and a thriving community needs, right on the doorstep.
